The de-facto payment standard for global SaaS

Payment Partial Integration difficulty·Medium KYC requirement·Overseas entity

Pricing:2.9% + $0.30 / 笔(美区起步)

Good for

  • Teams that already have an overseas entity or are registering one via Atlas
  • SaaS charging international customers via subscriptions, one-time, or usage-based billing
  • Products needing webhooks, test mode, and solid reconciliation

Not good for

  • Products targeting Mainland China users only
  • Solo founders who need same-day payouts (KYC usually takes 1-2 weeks)
  • High-risk verticals (adult, gambling, crypto exchanges)

Integration effort

Effort scales with scope: Payment Links go live in an hour; full custom Checkout, subscription tiers, and metered billing typically take 3-7 working days. Webhook signature verification and retry handling deserve careful testing.

KYC and entity

Requires an overseas entity (US LLC/C-Corp, UK Ltd, Singapore Pte Ltd, etc.) plus director ID, address, and bank details. A Mainland China ID alone cannot open an account.

Payouts to China

Payouts to Mainland China require an intermediate overseas bank: Stripe → Mercury / Wise Business / Airwallex → personal or company account in China. Settlement times depend on the receiving bank.

Privacy / compliance notes

Stripe handles cardholder data and is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Merchants are responsible for their own privacy policy and cookie consent. Refer to Stripe Privacy Center for terms.

FAQ

Can I sign up with a Mainland China ID alone?

No. You need an overseas entity, or a US C-Corp registered through Atlas.

Stripe vs PayPal — how to choose?

Stripe excels at SaaS subscriptions and branded checkout; PayPal covers consumer-side international payments. Most teams run both.
